FIRST PHASE RENOVATION OF THE LEMMER-DELFZIJL MAIN WATERWAY
Commissioned by Rijkswaterstaat, the joint venture of Beens Constructieve Waterbouw B.V. and Hakkers Waterbouw B.V. will carry out the replacement of banks, mooring facilities, and guiding structures along the main waterway from Lemmer to Delfzijl in 2026–2027. GEO2 Engineering B.V. supports the consortium with geotechnical expertise from the tender phase through execution.
The project includes the replacement of approximately 6 km of riverbank using sheet pile wall structures. In addition, new guiding structures will be installed at three locations, and new mooring facilities will be constructed at three locations.
GEO2 Engineering B.V. is responsible for:
- Plaxis 2D analyses to assess the impact on adjacent structures and to design retaining structures
- Vibration assessments for the installation of sheet piles and open steel tubular piles in accordance with SBR Guideline A
- Settlement predictions based on the theories of Hergarden and Van Tol
- Support in the setup and analysis of laboratory testing (triaxial tests) to determine soil strength parameters
